The 9th International Forum on Chinese Energy Strategy

The 9th International Forum on Chinese Energy Strategy was held in China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB) on December 20th, 2014. The theme of this year’s forum was “The Energy Revolution: Status and Role of Fossil Energy”. More than 100 delegates from universities at home and aboard, energy enterprises and research institutions attended the forum.

Prof. Wu Xiaolin, the Vice President of CUPB, addressed the opening speech on behalf of the forum organizer. She put forward that energy revolution, a long-term national strategy to safeguard China’s energy security, will respond to the changing pattern of energy supply and demand, and the new trend of global energy development. She also emphasized that, against this backdrop, the International Forum on Chinese Energy Strategy has promoted the communication and exchange among officials, scholars and enterprises.

The forum consisted of General Assembly Speech, Sub-Forum I “Oil and Gas Cooperation of China and Russia & China and Central Asia”, and Sub-Forum II “Academic Salon”. Experts and delegates presented their speeches focused on the following topics: China’s energy revolution and energy security strategy; Status and role of fossil energy in the energy revolution; Development of new energy and reconstruction of modern energy system in the era of energy revolution; Oil and gas cooperation between China and Russia, as well as Central Asia.

Founded in 2006, the International Forum on Chinese Energy Strategy centers on the frontier issues in energy field, and provides a high-level platform for officials, scholars and enterprises. Over the years, this forum has won wide applaud from the society. The organizing units of this year’s forum include CUPB Science and Technology Department, International Office and Academy of Chinese Energy Strategy.
