Overview

Founded in 2000, the School of Foreign Languages is devoted to the cultivation of international talents with remarkable language proficiency, creative and critical thinking, and intercultural capability.

It offers a four-year BA program in English which in the first two years focuses on advanced English Education and from the third year onward specializes in language research in linguistics/literature/translation and the study on energy/culture. It also offers three master’s programs, i.e., Master of English Language and Literature (MA), Master of Translation and Interpretation (MTI), and Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL). Since 2012, when the China Research Institute of Global Energy Public Opinion was established, the School has created its unique feature by introducing global energy public opinion and cultures of oil-producing countries into its teaching programs, faculty development and academic research.

The School of Foreign Languages is led by a pool of distinguished experts and scholars. It has a registered staff number of 65, including 3 full professors, 17 associate professors and 39 lecturers. Of the faculty members, 20 have acquired doctoral degree and 35 master degrees, with 37 having studied abroad. In recent years, the School has achieved encouraging progress in research, with an increasing number of high-level publications, and research programs funded by the state government, the Ministry of Educationor the Beijing Municipality.
