From July 1 to July 14, three joint summer camp programs were held in Beijing, including the Kazakhstani-Russian Chinese Bridge Camp, Baku Higher Oil School Camp, and the Confucius Institute Camp from Universidad San Francisco De Quito. Sponsored by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and hosted by China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB), the camps aimed to deepen cultural exchanges among youth from different countries, promote academic cooperation, and foster mutual understanding and friendship. A total of 41 students and teachers from four countries and four universities participated in the program.
During the summer camp, students engaged in a variety of activities, including Chinese language courses, martial arts experiences, and traditional Chinese paper-cutting performances. They also visited famous historical and cultural sites such as the Imperial Palace, the Great Wall, and the Temple of Heaven, providing them with a deeper understanding of China's rich history and culture. The program was thoughtfully designed to blend traditional Chinese culture with oil and gas industry knowledge, allowing participants to explore China's cultural heritage while also learning about CUPB's strong academic traditions and expertise in petroleum studies. This approach helped to promote academic cooperation and exchange between the two sides.
At the closing ceremony, students from the four countries shared their experiences and reflections on their time in China. An Ecuadorian student’s passionate dance and heartfelt performance of the song "Friends" showcased the deep bond between the participants, while a Russian student’s rendition of "Katyusha" further strengthened the camaraderie between the students from both countries. As a token of appreciation, the school presented commemorative "oil droplet" ornaments to the delegations from the participating countries.
The joint summer camps not only provided participants with valuable academic insights but also allowed them to experience China's rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality. The program ignited their enthusiasm for learning Chinese and gaining a deeper understanding of Chinese culture. Participants expressed their commitment to embracing China's vibrant culture and successful development experiences, contributing to strengthening ties between their countries and promoting the vision of a shared future for humanity.
