From October 23 to 24, the 2023 China-Russia University Presidents' Forum was held in Harbin. More than 150 university leaders, experts and scholars from nearly 60 universities in China and Russia attended the forum. Zhang Guangqing, vice president of China University of Petroleum-Beijing, was invited to attend the meeting and deliver a report.

 

In the round table forum, Zhang Guangqing said that China University of Petroleum-Beijing is the first petroleum university in China, and has accumulated certain experience in the joint training of talents for Sino-Russian energy cooperation between universities and enterprises. He introduced the measures of CUPB to deeply participate in and serve the global energy cooperation and transformation, saying that in the new historical stage, Chinese and Russian universities should jointly seize the opportunities and meet the challenges to build a closer partnership of energy education.

 

During the forum, Zhang also met with Dragunov Viktor, Vice President of National Research University Moscow Power Engineering Institute and Kosholev Vladimir, Vice President of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. They all expressed their expectation to further cooperation in communication between teachers and students, talent cultivation and scientific research.

 

The forum was hosted by the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities and organized by Harbin Institute of Technology. Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU), is a non-profit organization formed by elite engineering universities from the two countries on a voluntary basis. It is an effective communication platform in the field of higher education under the framework of "China-Russia Cultural Cooperation Committee" and "The Sub-committee of Science and Technology Cooperation of the Committee for the Regular Meeting of Chinese and Russian Prime Ministers", setting a precedent of similar universities alliance and an example for the cooperation between similar universities between China and Russia.
