On January 18, 2023, the 2022 annual meeting of academic committee of State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Resources and Exploration was held online. Over 70 attendees, including Bao Zhidong, Jin Yan, Zhang Guangqing, vice presidents of China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUP), as well as others including academicians and professors presented the meeting.

Jin Yan introduced the restructuring plan of the State Key Laboratory from the aspects of talent introduction, platform construction, priority deployment of space resources, and building innovation consortium with enterprises, and pointed out the guiding ideology of the restructuring.

Professor Xian Chenggang, Executive Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory, introduced the progress and representative achievements of the Laboratory in 2022 and proposed the work priorities for 2023.

The members of the Academic Committee and experts fully affirmed the achievement and scientific progress of the laboratory, and made constructive suggestions on the development of the laboratory, focusing on key research directions, facing the national energy strategic needs and adapting to the energy transition and the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" target.

Academician Jia Chengzao emphasized that the reorganization of key laboratories is a national strategic demand, and the reorganization and integration should be closely focused on unconventional oil and gas.

On behalf of CUP, the supporting institution of the laboratory, Bao Zhidong thanked the members of the academic committee for their contributions to the development of the State Key Laboratory. He pointed out that the State Key Laboratory is an important part of the national strategic science and technology strength, and with the support of the members, a high-level research team with optimized structure and distinctive features has been assembled.
