China University of Petroleum-Beijing

       China University of Petroleum, Beijing was founded in 1953, nominated as a key national university in 1960. and is a ‘211’ national universities under administration of the Ministry of Education. As a first-tier national university of China, the mission of CUP is to prepare qualified engineers and offer great technical service for the global oil industry through its education of the highest quality and excellent research. As a great extension of the Beijing Campus, CUP set up a new campus in Karamay, Xinjiang Autonomous Region in Oct. 2015 to uplift its national and international significance. In 2017, CUP joined the “Double First-rate” strategic plan, which is a new ambitious higher education policy that was officially launched by Chinese Ministry of Education. With years of efforts, CUP has been working on improving its programme quality, continuously evolving to stay at the cutting edge of research and industrial advances, and broadening its disciplines and research areas.

       CUP has 5 national key disciplines, 2 Double First-Class disciplines and 5 National characteristic disciplines. CUP is made up of 21 colleges and schools, including College of Geosciences, College of Petroleum Engineering, College of Chemical Engineering and Environment, College of Mechanical and Transportation Engineering, College of Geophysics, College of Safety and Ocean Engineering, College of New Energy and Materials, College of Information Science and Engineering, College of Science, School of Economics and Management, School of Marxism, School of Foreign Languages, College of Sports Humanities and Arts, College of Artificial Intelligence, Unconventional Petroleum Research Institute, State Key Laboratory of Petroleum Resources and Prospecting, State Key Laboratory of Heavy Oil Processing, College of Carbon Neutrality Future Technology, College of Carbon Neutral Energy, College of International Education, and School of Online and Continuing Education.

       CUP has been to working closely with world-leading energy companies. More than 65% of its research projects are supported by these organizations. Internationalization is one of the three key strategic priorities of CUP whose target is to attract scholars from around the world. CUP currently has collaborative relationships with 120 higher education institutions and academic organizations from 36 countries. We encourage our faculty and students to explore the world and share their capacity with the world through linkages with CUP’s global partner institutions.
