Recently, the 2025 “Petroleum Cup” series of sports events organized by China University of Petroleum came to a successful conclusion. 32 international students from 11 countries including Turkmenistan, Nigeria, Ecuador and Vietnam excelled in various competitions such as tennis, volleyball and swimming, achieving outstanding results and demonstrating excellent competitive skills and an energetic, positive spirit.

In the highly anticipated men’s singles tennis final, the Nigerian international student NKWEGU EDWARD OBINNA competed fiercely against a strong opponent throughout the match. Despite being 2-0 behind, he won six consecutive sets and ultimately won the championship with a total score of 6:2. In the swimming competition, the international students performed exceptionally well, winning 3 championships, 1 runner-up, 2 third places, and 1 top 8 position. The male team of the international students won the men’s 4x50m freestyle relay championship, fully demonstrating excellent physical fitness and willpower. In the volleyball arena, both the male and female teams of the international students also performed outstandingly, with the men’s team securing the third place and the women’s team achieving the fourth place.

The “Petroleum Cup” series of sports events are not only a stage for competition but also a platform for cultural exchange. In the future, the college will continue to support international students in participating in various cultural and sports activities. Through the “sports + culture” mode, it will help them enhance their physical fitness through sports and integrate into the campus. In cross-cultural exchanges, they will tell the Chinese Stories well, become bridges and ties connecting friendship between China and foreign countries. The school will take the “Petroleum Cup” series of sports events as an opportunity to further enrich campus cultural life, promote exchanges and integration among Chinese and international students, and create more opportunities for cultivating high-quality talents with international perspectives and cross-cultural communication skills.
