On the morning of August 30, in order to warmly welcome the new students, the “China University of Petroleum-Beijing 

2018 Students Opening Ceremony” was held on the CUPB stadium. More than 100 international students attended this 

ceremony, which formally marks the beginning of their academic lives at China University of Petroleum-Beijing.

During the ceremony, the President of China University of Petroleum-Beijing Zhang Laibin delivered a keynote speech 

encouraging the students to devote themselves to pursuing progress in their life as a student. Teacher and student 

representatives also addressed the students.

The Yemenese student Al-Hammed Ahmed Mohsen Mohammed from College of International Education CUPB gave a 

speech at the ceremony as a representative of new international students. Al-Hamed Ahmed Mohsen Mohammed is a CUPB 

scholarship student of the Class of 2018, who major in computer science and technology. In the speech he expressed his love 

for China and expectation of student life in China University of Petroleum-Beijing.
