Notice about Disease Prevention

At the beginning of the semester, students and staff have come back from all over the country. The infectious disease monitoring of CUPB Hospital found: chicken pox, tuberculosis cases increased, flu cases decreased, consistent with the epidemic network monitoring. In order to ensure the normal teaching order of the school and ensure the normal learning of students, it is suggested that students make good protection in advance.

Respiratory disease prevention knowledge

Autumn and winter are the high-occurrence seasons of respiratory tract contagion. Common respiratory tract contagions include chickenpox, cold, flu, mumps etc. Students are the susceptible crowd of respiratory tract contagion, and schools are the place that these susceptible crowd gather. Once have contagion source, it can spread through air droplet and close contact, cause epidemic situation among students, cause local outbreak even.

1. Chickenpox is a kind of highly infectious respiratory disease. Contact with the chicken pox herpes fluid of patients or inhalation of its saliva droplets can cause disease. The incubation period of the disease is about 10 - 20 days. The infectious period generally starts  1-2 days before the rash appears to the incrustation of herpes. Patients of chicken pox should be isolated in case of infection. Patients should rest in bed during the isolation.  Isolation should continue until the fever has subsided and the scab has begun to fall off. No visitation during quarantine. When adult is infected chickenpox fever, ennui is more serious than child. Blisters may occur in the mouth, pharynx, face, scalp, trunk, and extremities. The course of the disease is: systemic rash in succession -> blisters -> pus -> scab. When the scab has come off after 7-14 day, patient can be exempted from isolation.

2. Grippe is the acute respiratory tract infection that causes by grippe virus. The clinical   is fever, headache, myalgia, lack of power, rhinitis, pharynx, cough, may come with gastrointestinal discomfort. It’s difficult to different diagnosis of inchoate grippe and SARS, a H1N1. Grippe can aggravate potential diseases (such as cardiorespiratory diseases) or cause secondary bacterial pneumonia or primary influenza viral pneumonia, myocarditis. And the old people and those with various chronic diseases or weak constitution are prone to serious complications after suffering from grippe, with a high fatality rate. Humans are susceptible to infection.

3. Tuberculosis is a kind of chronic respiratory tract infection caused by tuberculosis bacilli. It can happen all year round. Adolescents aged 15 to 35 years are at the peak age of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is transmitted mainly through the respiratory tract. After the patient that has active phthisical phlegm to spit, n/med tuberculosis bacterium can follow the phlegm end that did to fly come loose all round, can infect healthy person at any time. Clinical manifestations: cough, expectoration, dry cough or blood-streaking in sputum, afternoon low fever, night sweat, fatigue and weakness, facial flushing, body wasting and other symptoms. The human body is generally susceptible to tuberculosis.

Main Preventive Measures of Respiratory Disease

1. Students should develop good health habits, live regular life, have meals on time, keep a balanced diet, adequate exercise, adequate rest, avoid excessive fatigue, do not stay up late, drink more hot water, wash hands frequently, so as to avoid cross-infection of infectious diseases. Students should keep a certain distance with people, avoid face to face when talking with people, cover your mouth and nose with a handkerchief or paper towel when sneezing or coughing in the crowd, and avoid contaminating others with droplets.

2. Classrooms, libraries, canteen-halls, student apartments and other gathering places should often open windows more than 1 hour a day for ventilation to keep the environment clean and air circulation. The best time for ventilation is 9:00 am - 3:00 PM. Students are advised to turn over the bedding in the sun.

3. Chicken pox protection: when chickenpox cases are around, we advice contact students check each other every day whether there is red dot, torso and limbs skin before going to bed. If you have a fever or rash, you should go to hospital immediately. If you have a fever, please remind the doctor that recently you have contacted with chickenpox patients, and don’t change the hospital during this period, so that it will be convenient for management and tracking. Sick students must be treated in an isolation and can go back to school only when the scab is dry (about 21 days after onset).

4. Tuberculosis protection: when the students around have cough expectoration for more than two weeks, they should be suggested to go to the school hospital for medical treatment in time, the investigation of tuberculosis.
