Program at a glance
The "0.5+4" Joint Training Program consists of a Preparatory Stage and an Undergraduate Stage, namely "0.5+4". Students selected through the talent selection program first complete one semester (0.5 academic year) of preparatory courses at CUPB and, upon meeting the advancement requirements — including attainment of a CSCA score meeting CUPB's undergraduate admission standard — proceed to four years of undergraduate study. Students who meet the graduation and degree conferral requirements are awarded the undergraduate graduation certificate and the bachelor's degree.
Seamless pathway
One semester of preparatory study leads directly into undergraduate study — a clear route of selection, preparation, advancement and degree study.
CSCA-oriented preparation
The preparatory curriculum is aligned with CSCA test subjects, with intensive preparation and registration guidance.
CUPB's leading disciplines
Petroleum engineering, oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, resource exploration engineering, chemical engineering and technology and other leading fields.
Support from day one
Counsellors, academic tutors, language partners, accommodation arrangements and psychological counselling.

Curriculum & majors
Preparatory stage (one semester)
Systematic teaching and intensive preparation for the CSCA test subjects — professional Chinese (humanities / STEM), mathematics, physics and chemistry — together with study methods and skills, China studies and cross-cultural adaptation. The teaching and assessment of this stage take as their primary objective helping students pass the CSCA and advance smoothly to undergraduate study.
Undergraduate stage (four academic years)
Proposed majors include petroleum engineering, oil and gas storage and transportation engineering, resource exploration engineering, chemical engineering and technology, mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, computer science and technology, new energy science and engineering, and economics and management. The specific list of majors open for admission is published annually. Students complete course study, practical training and the graduation thesis (project) under a credit system.
Fees & scholarships
Fees
The fees comprise preparatory tuition, undergraduate tuition, accommodation, textbooks, medical examination and comprehensive medical insurance. CSCA examination fees and living expenses are borne by the students themselves. Specific standards follow the cooperation agreement signed by the parties and the fee standards published for the relevant year.
Scholarship support
CUPB provides scholarships to outstanding students of the program, including the Chinese Government Scholarship, CUP(Beijing) Scholarship and various scholarships established by CUPB, with quotas and standards determined on an annual basis.
